Each year diverse Summer Schools and Training Courses are offered by the partner research and higher education institutions of the tri-national forest research network, NFZ.forestnet. They will take place in Switzerland, France and Baden-Württemberg, Germany. All summer schools and training courses are offered in English and open to international students interested by issues related to forests.

NFZ summer schools or training courses are dedicated to a specific topic within the forest and wood sciences domain. They are open to all international PhD students or young researchers. Participation is subject to a selection process by the organizing committee. Application deadlines vary, depending on the summer school dates.

Date : Each year, between the end June and the begining of Septembre

Location : France, Germany or Switzerland depending of the theme and the organizors

Duration : The duration is usually one week, with students staying at the same place (usually a hall of residence or a lodge) to create a nice atmosphere and stimulate exchanges.

Instructors : The lecturers are international researchers and teachers working at NFZ.forestnet partner institutions.

Target Group : The courses are devoted to International students (last year masters and PhDs) as well as for more advanced scientists interested in the field. Participants should be willing to work in the field, the lab and at the computer.

Participants : There are usually around 20-30 selected participants, coming from 10-15 different countries.

Fees : Some summerschool will ask you fees to cover costs of the field week material, accommodation and meals. Others are free but participants have to cover for their accomodation and travel costs.

Credits points : Some summerschool offers ECTS credits points.
