2018 - International Conference on Functional Ecology 2018

2018 - International Conference on Functional Ecology 2018

The International Conference on Functional Ecology took place in December 2018 in Nancy, gathering scientists specializing in the functional ecology of organisms, populations, communities, and ecosystems.

FEC2018 aimed to review the current state of research in functional ecology, with a focus on material and energy flows, leveraging long-term observation, experimentation, and modeling. Topics included global changes, biodiversity threats, and remediation of degraded ecosystems across forest, natural, cultivated, and urban ecosystems. The event also fostered interactions between experienced researchers, young researchers, and engineers.

The conference featured five daily sessions and a workshop on AnaEE France infrastructures. Sessions covered all levels of research and ecosystem types, including crops, grasslands, shrubs, forests, marine, lakes, rivers, oceans, urban, and mining ecosystems. Several sessions focused on forest ecosystems, the main theme for this year. All sessions were delivered in English.

The 2018 conference was organized by INRA Grand Est-Nancy and AgroParisTech-Nancy center, with support from AnaEE France, AnaEE Europe, and the Nancy-Freiburg-Zürich international network (NFZ. forestnet). The University of Lorraine and the CNRS were also partners. This conference continued the tradition of the "functional ecology days" held in previous years.
