Summer School NFZ.forestnet on Mixed Forest Ecosystems (MIXFOR) 2014

The Summer School NFZ.forestnet on mixed forest ecosystems (MIXFOR) took place from August 25 to 29, 2014, at INRA in Champenoux. This event brought together 25 participants, including 20 PhD students, from various countries, with Germany, Belgium, and France being the most represented.

Over the course of five days, speakers presented concepts of community ecology and functional ecology, aiming to deepen the understanding of the relationship between biodiversity and ecosystem functioning. The illustrations covered natural forests, plantations, and agroforestry systems.

The program included a series of lectures and workshops that provided valuable insights and hands-on experiences. Topics ranged from theoretical frameworks to practical applications in the field of mixed forest ecosystems.

Participants also enjoyed two half-day visits that showcased the regeneration of mixed forests in Hesse, experimental plantations in the Forest of Haye, and the new agroforestry plantation in Bouzule. These visits, conducted in collaboration with the National Forest Service, illustrated various experimental and observational studies in action.

The book of abstracts and the event schedule were made available to all participants, providing a comprehensive overview of the topics covered during the Summer School.
