2026: 7. KWF-Thementage – KWF Theme Days – KWF Journées Thématiques
“Young Forests under Climate Change” 23-24 September 2026

Taking place in a forest south of Ulm (State of Baden-Württemberg, Germany) and spanning a 5 km round tour, several exhibition booths and excursion sights offered insights into new and innovative machinery and tools for forestry as well as guided tours on topics related to forest management under the guiding theme “Young Forests under Climate Change”. This year’s KWF-Thementage 2026 were highly successful with an estimated 5.000 visitors.

Set up by the FVA-Freiburg, our exhibition aimed at raising awareness around the necessity and opportunities of multilingual and cross-border forestry communication. We presented the networks NFZ.forestnet, TriNationalForestLab (TNFL) and their series of events offered by their partners and sponsors. In addition, we interactively presented the waldwissen.net platform with its options to filter for articles translated into German, English, French or Italian.

Our exhibition also displayed posters provided by participants of this year’s TNFL Forest Dialogue in Basel, which we translated into German, English and French. The posters covered topics such as “Droughts in Jura Forests” (Mélanie Erb / Canton Jura Office de l’environnement) as well as research on the future potential of different tree species for forests in the federal state of Baden-Württemberg (Axel Albrecht et al. / FVA Dept. Forest Growth).

As an “eye-catcher”, our booth featured an interactive poster by Dr. Ting Tang (Universität Zürich) which engaged visitors with a hand-drawn survey revolving around perceptions of biodiversity in forests, its values, levels of implementation and potential conflicts. We documented every participant’s response. Dr. Tang will process and provide the results under the following link: Results

We appreciate the eager interest, enthusiasm and discussions with the fair’s visitors and hope to see many of them in our upcoming events.
