Head (m/f) of the Forest Resources and Management Research Unit
The Swiss Federal Research Institute WSL is seeking a Head (m/f) of the Forest Resources and Management Unit.

As a researcher with an international reputation, you will manage the research unit which has some 70 staff members in cooperation with the group leaders. You will head up you own projects and promote and coordinate research within the unit. You will endeavour to bring about targeted practical implementation of the research outcomes. You will procure third party funding for research pro-jects and promote cooperation with public authorities and organizations at both national and international level.
You have an excellent university degree with a PhD in forestry, natural science or geoscience. You are interested in modern forestry management and have experience in the analysis of large datasets about growth, use, structure and diversity of natural and managed forests. You have experience in managing re-search groups and/or in leading interdisciplinary research projects. You have an integrative personality with negotiating skills and a good command of one of the Swiss national languages as well as English.

The Swiss Federal Institute for Forest, Snow and Landscape Research WSL with around 500 staff members is part of the ETH (Swiss Federal Institute of Technology). It concentrates on the sustainable use and protection of land-scapes and habitats and on a responsible approach to natural hazards. The Forest Resources and Management Unit focuses on the study, control and management of forests as a resource. In particular, it is in charge of the major projects for the national forest inventory and development of the Swiss forest reserves and experimental areas.
